# Analyze link health

> Analyze link health checks every link of your site with its host and gives it a health score, so you can find and fix broken links. This page explains which hosts are checked, what the scores mean and how to run the analysis.

## Overview

Hosts delete files and videos all the time, and a broken link frustrates your visitors. **Analyze link health** checks every link of your site directly with its host and gives it a **health score** from 0 to 100. Then you can find the broken ones in **Dbmovies › Links** and replace or remove them.

You find it in **Dbmovies › Tools**, or in the **Tools** menu of **Dbmovies › Links**.

## Supported hosts

Each host is checked with the most reliable method it offers:

| Host | How it is checked |
|---|---|
| **MEGA** | Its own API |
| **YouTube** | Its official embed information (oEmbed) |
| **1fichier**, **MediaFire** and **MegaUp** | The page of the file |

The HTTP status is not enough, because many hosts answer "OK" even when the file was deleted. That is why Dbmovies looks at the content of the answer.

Links from other hosts are not checked and stay at 0 (**Not checked**).

## Health scores

| Result | Score | Shown as |
|---|---|---|
| The file is available | 100 | **Healthy** (80–100) |
| Unclear: the host blocked the check, did not answer in time, or answered something ambiguous | 50 | **Degraded** (50–79) |
| The file was deleted or the link is not valid | 1 | **Broken** (1–49) |
| The host is not supported, or the link was never checked | 0 | **Not checked** (0) |

A **Degraded** link is not necessarily broken: check it again later, or open it to see.

## Running the analysis

1. Go to **Dbmovies › Tools › Analyze link health**. The panel shows how many links will be checked.
2. Click **Start** and confirm.
3. Follow the progress: how many links are healthy and how many are broken, and the time left.

- **Pause, Resume, Stop.** You can pause and resume at any time, or stop. If you close the browser, your progress is kept for 24 hours, and the panel offers to **Resume** it or **Discard** it when you come back.
- **Time.** Each link is checked with a live request to its host, which can take up to 20 seconds when a host is slow. On a large catalog the analysis takes a while, so run it at quiet hours.
- **Scores are replaced.** The analysis checks all your links and replaces their previous scores.

## Fixing broken links

1. Go to **Dbmovies › Links**.
2. Filter by **Health › Broken**.
3. For each link, replace its URL in the edit panel, or delete it. Broken links are deleted without asking for confirmation, so you can clean them up quickly.

## Other ways the score is updated

You do not need to run the full analysis for every change:

- **When you add or edit a link**, Dbmovies checks it on save. For downloads, it also reads the file size from the host when it can, and fills in the field if you left it empty.
