# Releases

> Releases group your movies and TV shows by release year. This page explains how the year is set and how to configure the address of the year pages.

## Overview

Releases group your movies and TV shows by the year they came out: one term per year, such as `2024`. Your visitors can browse all the titles of a year from its page.

You find **Releases** in the **Movies** and **TV Shows** menus.

## How the year is set

When you import a title, Dbmovies adds its year, if **Release years** is checked in **Dbmovies › Settings › Data Importer › Initial settings › Taxonomies**:

- **Movies:** the year of their release date.
- **TV shows:** the year of their first air date.

Each year is created only once and shared by all the titles of that year. If a title has no release date on TMDb, it gets no year.

## Permalink

You choose the word before the year in **Settings › Permalinks**, section **Dbmovies: Taxonomies**, field **Taxonomy: Releases**. The default is `release`:

Changing the word changes the address of every year page. Choose it before you open your site.
